Some random Tuesday thoughts

My brain is running wild, trying to process way too many things at once which makes focusing on a single topic impossible. Instead I'm just going to share some of the random junk floating around in there.

- I hate going back to the doctor over and over again only to be told "huh, that didn't work, let's try this instead!". I feel like a science project. And I'm tired of being poked at like a lab specimen and made to feel like I'm deformed or something.

- Daylight Savings (aka one of the few things Bush did that I appreciate) - I suffer from night blindness so it's awesome to be able to do something after work instead of rushing home before I can't see anything. I still haven't mastered that "lose an hour of sleep" thing though.

- Feedburner is really messing with my blog feeds and I'm losing patience with it. My favorite tech problems are always the ones that other people also suffer from but nobody seems to have a solution.

- This new medicine tastes like the monkey cages smell at the zoo. No wonder you're supposed to drink 8 oz of water with it.

- My brain is on so much crack, I can't seem to process simple things. Like we're getting a new fridge because the old one sucks, runs all the time, is horribly inefficient, etc. Well, what do we do with all our food in between the emptying it out of the old fridge and waiting for the new one to get cold? They're taking the old one away to recycle so I doubt they're going to wait around and let us have them up simultaneously. These are the things that keep me up at night.

- I think I'm the odd duck that doesn't pee myself in excitement for blog giveaways. Don't get me wrong, I've thrown my name in for some great ones. But mostly, I've gone to great lengths to protect my identity - so what happens if I win? You want my name and address? PANIC ATTACK!!! So it's got to be really appealing (or a lot of fun) for me to put my name in, which means the SITS Spring Fling should be interesting today...

- Related to the former but can you buy a PO Box and register it to your real name, say Jane Smith, but receive mail there for a different name, say Cate Q. McFacePuncher?

Yeah, that's about all I've got. I'll try harder tomorrow.

What's wrong with the stale overpowering smell of monkeys?

With you on the doctors thing. I tend to go down the "it will clear up eventually" route but the missus makes me go to the ol' quack, and I end up going a million times and every time I'm pretty much told to try this, and to try that, but basically it is probably viral...

lol...you don;t like to smell a good wholesome dirty monkey? What is wrong with you? lol Do you remain a "mystery" because of the anxiety or just to be safe? Just curious if you had an experience with an internet "weirdo" or something. Have a great Tuesday!!

I agree on the giveaway thing, I don't pee myself with excitement either.

I agree with you about pretty much everything you wrote today, so I'll just keep it simple and say, "Yeah, me too."

blog giveaways are generally annoying to me.

your feed is kinda effed up. in my google reader your feed is totally empty (not even partial) except for ads about jesus. it's happened for the past ten posts or so.

true story.

Your brain seems to be functioning much like mine. Wow.

LOL, nice code name! Or is that your real name? BTW, I need your name, address and social security number. It's my stipulations to read my blog ;o)

Before I read your P.O. Box solution I was totally going to suggest that I would send you winnings via neutral third party infidels.

But the P.O. Box thing-y seems safer somehow. Them infidels are C-R-A-Z-Y.

Random Tuesday monkey skunk. Nice thoughts for this beautiful Tuesday, Cate. :)

Sorry to hear about your feed problems - seriously, still?

What? You don't pee yourself? Personal information is kinda scary, but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and meet new people - if they happen to be stalkers, all the more interesting.

mo.stoneskin - I'm quick to head to the doctor but I also expect a quick answer. We've been dancing around on this issue since last July. And probably longer before the GP noticed enough to send me to the specialist. You're right, in the end it will go away on its own or be some incurable virus. I surrender!

Angie - I remain a mystery mainly due to my anxiety. I just can't share openly if there's a chance of someone from work or my family finding it.

blognut - I'm sorry your brain is mushy enough to just agree with mine. Frightening.

Lora - death to feedburner! That's exactly what I'm talking about (though the Jesus ads are a new twist). I'm gonna have to ditch it until they get at least half a clue I think.

Sass - I apologize that our brains are co-functioning. Or not functioning as the case may be.

Grand Pooba - yeah, it's not quite as easy as that to get me to spill my guts. You have to at least buy me a drink first!

andy - those third party infidels are scary. Probably just less hassle to get the PO Box. Or get over myself. You'll all know where I live after the porch party anyways.

RAS - SomeMonkey is totally going to think this is about her. And I've never met her in person but I'm sure she doesn't smell skunky at all. Yeah, she's gonna hurt me. I'm all for stalkers. I just prefer to call them fans.

Cate Q. McFacePuncher? You should DEFINITELY check into that. If that works for you, let me know, because I'd get a KICK out of sending you fan mail.

I love random posts. :)

- I've been through the science project feeling...and still no answers.

- I hear ya on the night blindness. I have HORRIBLE depth perception at night, so I try not to drive at night when possible (and if it's raining as well, forget about it!)

- Ew ew ew. I'm surprised you're able to ingest a medicine that tastes like that. EW!

- Um, use coolers?

- I am pretty sure you can get a P.O. Box and have the person mail it to "Call Me Cate Blog" or some other name (Cate Q. McFacePuncher may raise some eyebrows) at P.O. Box blahblahblah Privacy = intact. :)

Call Me Cate said...

Sassy Britches - it's been pointed out to me that I'll still have to divulge city/state/zip. But so close.

Isabella - lack of depth perception is the worst. Do you also experience the light halos? And rain makes it so much worse. Thanks for the P.O. box info. Maybe I'll just go with Cate McCracken. Haha, I'm easily amused this afternoon.

Feedburner is really messed up lately. It went from telling me I had 59 subscribers to only 4 in a matter of days. I have no idea how many subscribers I actually have, but I'm pretty sure it's more than 4.

I hope your Tuesday improves. As far as I'm concerned, it ought to be at least Thursday by now.

Isabella said...

I used to get the light halos as well...but two things happened that have since stopped it: 1)I got a new glasses prescription, and 2)I got the glare reduction coating put on the lenses. Problem solved.

Even with my new-and-improved glasses, I still try not to drive at night. Glasses can only do so much for depth perception.

Cate McCracken. LOL. In the spirit of St. Patty's Day, how about Patty O'Furniture?

Um, so I am sort of in love with your blog. I was referred by someone who linked to your Six Word Saturday thing (which I just might take up myself), and I perused a bit and basically...you are officially in my reader.

That's all.

The Crow said...

Yes, you can rent a box and have other names receive mail in it.

My daughter and grandson receive mail in my box, and I use it for my fictitious name, as well.

Call Me Cate said...

Juliet - I've disabled Feedburner for now. It was causing me too much grief. And it does feel like it should be at least Thursday.

Isabella - ahh, I have contacts. The glare was worse with my hard contacts, better with soft. But with glasses (whole long story) I can't see much at all. Glad your halos got better!

Tabitha - wow, thanks! Definitely join in on Saturday. We have a lot of fun.

The Crow - good to know, thanks. It sounds like the safest solution against stalkers and other assorted weirdos.

Pamela said...

I always feel like I'm outing myself when I email someone who leaves me a comment. There goes my email address! it doesn't match the name on my blog!

Annelie said...

The Crow totally beat me to it! I was just going to say "yes you can". You snooze you lose I guess... Anyways, main point is that you know. I wouldn't want you to miss out on your poncho! :)

Call Me Cate said...

Ella - this is why I have a separate email account for my blog.

Snarky A - since I took so long to get back to this, really it's YOUR poncho. Lucky girl...
