Six Word Saturdays

Often, my posts feel very long. Sorry about that, it's just that I'm so prolific fascinating lonely rambly, I often have trouble stopping. Which is why I introduced a new category: Six Word Saturdays.

The idea came from a book Joe bought me for Christmas. The book is: Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous & Obscure and it was edited by Smith Magazine. The book is based on Ernest Hemingway's short story, "For sale: baby shoes, never worn." The idea is to tell a story or describe your life in six words and the book is a collection of these. A few examples from the book jacket: "Found true love, married someone else." "After Harvard had baby with crackhead." It's interesting reading and has set me thinking in many directions so it might be worth checking out if that's your kind of thing.

The first book was so popular that they followed up with a second release. It's called Six-Word Memoirs on Love and Heartbreak: by Writers Famous and Obscure. And a third is now in the works.

I don't promise my Saturday posts will actually be just six words, but I'm do base them off this concept. I usually feel it's necessary to give at least a short explanation.

Participation is encouraged. In fact, I insist! Since I love reading the fabulous six words from everyone else (entries are so creative, sometimes silly, sometimes serious, occasionally including photos or art), I've started including a Mr. Linky on these Saturday posts. All that's necessary to participate is to post your own six words. If you do so in your blog, please add a link to the week's Mr. Linky. I appreciate a link back but I'm not going to delete your entry or punch you in the face if you don't. Otherwise, you're welcome to leave your six words in the post as a comment.

Someone requested a button and since I have absolutely nothing else to do all day continually strive to bring happiness to others, here you go, complete with the linky code!
