Chef Cate

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.  It was also Tuesday.

But not just any Tuesday.  This was National Chocolate Covered Raisins Day!

Blech, I'm not really a fan.  Raisins are weird and chewy.  Yet I don't have a problem with Craisins.  Go figure.

Good thing I don't have an issue with Craisins because yesterday (Monday), the spinach in my salad was not exactly edible.  This meant that instead of salad I had a nutritious lunch of Craisins and feta cheese.  Yum yum!  I am truly a culinary marvel. Wanna come over for dinner tonight?

P.S.: Obviously still working on getting my groove back.
P.P.S.: If you're one of the weirdos awesome people who blog the night before and set up for early morning publishing, do you get all confused with the today/yesterday/Monday/Tuesday stuff? Or is it just me. Like, do I break the 4th wall or not? Man behind the curtain and such.
P.P.P.S.: This made a lot more sense to me last night when I wrote it. Oh well, too late now!

I love chocolate-covered raisins but I don't love bad spinach.

And craisins...? Well, they just scare me a little.

With you on the raisins. Don't mind them in fruit cake, but for some reason I hate them all cooked and gooey, like in a strudal (struedal? who knows? who cares?!).

I am permanently confused because most of the blogs I read are American. Some of you guys post when I'm asleep, i.e. before you go to bed, so I pick them up first thing in my morning, when you're all asleep, and then some of you auto-post, so it arrives in the morning, when you're all asleep, and sometimes an American posts a Tuesday post when it is now Wednesday for me...

...so basically, my mind is now totally shafted.

I luuurrrve chocolate covered raisins! Yaaay for this little holiday for them!

And, sometimes I get confused as well. I'm a midnight auto-poster, so some people in the USA read it before going to bed, which means in their MINDS they're reading it the day before, possibly thinking I've posted twice in a day. Eh, I figure if they're confused enough, they just look at the top of the post where it tells them what day they SHOULD be thinking it is, and that's all I try to mess with.

Sometimes I get overeager because I want to see the post, and sneak it in at like 11PM, and then go back and change the date so it says the next day. It just makes me happy to see it IRL before I go to sleep. I bet THAT is confusing!

I love craisins. I use them in my oatmeal cookies instead of raisins at Christmas for that more festive look. Please the sweet and tangy mouth burst is an eye opener.

Pre-posting can get a little confusing. If I have to go back and re-edit something I'm really all screwed up and not sure if I have to reset the post time and it just gets confusing. So I know how you feel.

lol.
I HATE raisins. So much that if I babysit and the child wants raisins I won't even touch them. I don't want that nasty raisin smell on my hands.
I was very tempted to try the yummy-looking yogurt covered ones last night...then remembered that under that yogurt is yucky raisin.

Visiting you from SITS--have a wonderful day!

Love raisins.

Love craisins.

Love chocolate.

And yes, I do get confused when I write the posts the night before...which...shhhh...sometimes I do.

Even though I make fun of others for doing it. hee hee.

Angie - I don't mind raisins in certain things. But not covered in chocolate. I wouldn't like chocolate-covered craisins either.

blognut - The spinach was atrocious. Don't be scared of craisins!

mo.stoneskin - I try to write mine the night before and set it to post around 7:30am my time. Which is actually while I'm in the shower. For some reason that amuses me.

Sassy Britches - The late night crowd (and those West Coasters) are why I don't set mine for midnight. And I agree - Blogger preview sorta sucks.

Mrs Cooper - Now I want a cookie. Mind making me a sample?

Alabama Redhead - If you really want chocolate-covered spinach leaves, go for it. Just make sure they're fresh.

Lora - Raisins definitely have an odd texture. I guess the chocolate coating disguises that but then you chomp into them and EWW, there it is!!! Thanks for stopping by!

Sass - No shame in pre-posting. I figure if I don't, no telling when I'll get something published the next morning.

LOVE raisins ...LOVE craisins ...LOVE feta, but wouldn't want to mix it with either!
Happy Tuesday!

I don't like raisins either, but craisins are yummy. Feta and craisins sounds REALLY good right now. That is a part of a complete breakfast, right?

I get confused all the time when I set up posts. I have to read and re-read the post before, during and after it goes live. Then I try to decide if I am going to use words like yesterday and tomorrow as opposed to Monday and Wednesday...

And people thought this blogging stuff was easy. ;)

Craisins and feta? That sounds... nevermind. Chocolate covered raisins I like... probably not good with spinach, though.

Raisins = vomit.

I constantly break the 4th wall by talking to my readers before I even post it. Typically, I do the night before thing so that I can be like "No, no...I don't WRITE my blog at work..."

Also, they tell you raisins are dried grapes, but they're really just Satan's turds. He kind of poops like a rabbit.

Oh, I LOVE raisins! If you come upon some you don't want, please share! And, yes, I get confused a lot...whether I'm setting up a post the nite before or not!

Coffee Slut - I usually have salad for lunch at work that consists of feta, craisins, spinach, and red onion. You should give it a try!

Isabella - I'm sure feta and craisins are totally appropriate for breakfast. Whoever said blogging was easy certainly isn't doing it the same way I'm doing it!

RAS - I think you mocked my lunch. What's up with that?

SF - I always know I can count on you to cut right to the facts.

the iNDefatigable mjenks - I would *never* write my blog at work. Hahahaha. I think what offends me about raisins is that those grapes could've been made into wine. What a waste of grapes just letting them shrivel!

Melissa - You've totally got dibs on any raisins I come across.

Rasins are one of those things that I used to hate with a passion, but I have now kind of warmed up to. Same with corn. The tiniest little piece in my mouth would previously make me barf, but now, all of a sudden, I love corn. Odd.
Crasins though, are still firmly on the shit list.

And by the way, chocolate covered raisins have nothing on yogurt covered raisins.

What the happy hell is the 4th wall?

And I hate chocolate covered raisins too. It's like a fake out where you are expecting a piece of chocolate awesome-ness and then all of a sudden there is dehydrated fruit inside.

But I like craisins too. And in my salad. We are totally kindred spirits.

I LOVE chocolate and I like raisins. But chocolate-covered raisins would not be my first choice. Seems like a waste of good chocolate. Craisins and feta together doesn't seem too bad. Sweet and salty. Yum.

Personally, I declare every day to be international dark chocolate day. I celebrate daily. :-D

I don't have enough brain power to pre-post daily, which is to say I'm impressed by anyone who can.

so wait...what day is today?

When's dinner & what should I bring?

Call Me Cate said...

Snarky - I still have issues with corn. It doesn't, well, digest. And that can't be natural.

Andy - I hate to just give a link but the fourth wall basically is a tv or stage term referring to an actor acknowledging the existence of the audience. And thanks for the kindred spirits remark - helped inspire me for tomorrow's post.

Juliet - I will gladly celebrate int'l dark chocolate day with you.

Grand Pooba - Today is Sevenday. Tomorrow is Mollinday. I have no idea. I just know I have to go to work in the morning.

TMC - Just seeing this now. We had burgers but feel free to come now for dessert! Bring anything you like that is not coconuts or peaches. Extra points for alcohol!

Craisins ... feta ... and WALNUTS ... a total complete meal on a spinach salad :)

Are craisins chocolate coated raisins? I've never heard the expression "craisins" before.

Just food for thought... I think that days of rest from the blog world are very important for your wellbeing and should not be surrounded by guilt and merely pleasure.

best wishes :-) Ribbon

Call Me Cate said...

Lyndsay - The addition of walnuts is genius. I wish I had some.

Ribbon - Craisins are basically the same as raisins but they start as cranberries instead of grapes. Thanks for your words on taking breaks. I'm happy to know that Saturday and Sunday's posts are ready to go already. I'm trying hard to give myself permission to back off (not just from blogging but a lot of things).
