Not long before he was born, my parents asked me if I had any suggestions for what we should call the new baby. They very specifically asked for a Bible name. I believe this was to prove to their new church friends that the religion thing was sticking. I thought about it quite seriously before giving them my answer.
"I think we should name the baby Jesus."
Yeah, you try explaining to a five-year-old why if you're requesting a Bible name you shouldn't just go with the star of the whole show!
And then they named him Rob. I may be rusty on my Bible knowledge but I don't remember a whole lot of Robs in there.
Babynames.com: The meaning of the name Robert is Bright FameBright Fame. That just oozes Jesus.
P.S. I finished my first book for 2010 yesterday. 24 more to go!
P.P.S. Is "oozes Jesus" appropriate?

Wasn't Rob the much cooler lost Apostle? He always rode in the back of the camel. ;)
Rob, the little-known 13th disciple. Also known as Robbie, though Judas was known to occasionally call him "The Robmeister" or "Rob-a-Rama."
See, Shirley and I know what really happened!!
Jesus DOES ooze more Jesus than Rob. (yes, that sounds weird... though I do love the name Gabriel, which is somewhere between the two.)
I love it! And anything that "oozes Jesus" can't be all bad. :)
So what book did you read?
If Jesus was oozing, he would have just healed himself, right?
Yeah. I wish I oozed Jesus.
I like what Meg (Brown Recluse) said in her comment; I'd like to ooze Jesus :)
Did Rob live up to his name? Is he bright fame?
I think one of the hardest things about parenting is picking the kid's name. (seriously) the kid is going to be "stuck" with that name forever and I've seen some interesting ones in my years of transcription, got to wonder "what were those parents thinking?"
enjoy the weekend and good for you for getting your first book read!!! great accomplishment and start for the new year
betty
Is his legal name Jesus and your parents just CALL him Rob so that they weren't all in the church friends faces with "We named our baby JESUS. SO THERE! Nanner-nanner-nanner!"?
My son's name is Rob. I can't recall that we ever considered naming him Jesus. I'll have to let him know we are expecting some bright fame.
Giggle, giggle. That is too funny!
The book I read was "Anne of Ingleside" - I'm almost done rereading the Anne of Green Gables series. I'm keeping a list of what I'm reading this year on my bookshelf post (also accessible at the top of the page).
This made me laugh :)
When I was very young I went on holiday to Spain, and there was a fitness instructor at the hotel whose name was pronounced Hay-soos. I was writing about it in my diary and asked my grandma how to spell it. She speaks Spanish, and asked me (in a horrified tone, as if I should have known) "Don't you know how to spell Jesus?" So that was my first lesson that some people actually are called after Jesus...
i don't think using oozes and jesus in the same breath is ever inappropriate.
and always an ice breaker for those awkward silences;)

Oh yeah, Robert. He was that guy with the traveling clothing tent. ROBErt.
He made the robes that the apostles wore when they got their picture taken at the last supper.
Also, Oozing Jesus is totally appropriate.
I promise to use that in ten sentences by the end of the weekend.
[ P.P.S. Is "oozes Jesus" appropriate? ]
I guess it depends on who is doing the oozing - and upon whom.
I think "oozes Jesus" is not only appropriate, but also perfectly descriptive of the name Rob.
Oh my gosh that is hilarious! Did they at least give hime Jesus for his middle name?
ROFL, ummm, I think Jesus is even laughing at how funny that was. :)
I am sure it's a total compliment.

I recently discovered your blog and have found every piece I've read to be quite beneficial. My issue is that I receive a lot of traffic but very few comments!

I really like your blog post about how to make a site that looks like crap and it's still functional. I'm intrigued by the Six Word Saturday, I'll have to check that out! I also really like your Bible names post because it's really cute and personal. I'm so glad to hear that you're going to be hosting Six Word Saturday and getting rid of your old blog. I also really like your post about your 38 comments, I'm glad you still remember it. I think it's cool that you made a blog that was meant to be short and sweet.Content Writing

A truly interesting blog. Many blogs I visit these days don't actually offer anything I'm interested in, but this one definitely piques my curiosity. SIRA-approved CCTV
